Those forgetting history being doomed to repeat it.
There’s a lot more to it than just the events on the day of the massacre. How about the fact that there was a place called “Black Wall Street?”
One way to look at it: making this massacre as commonly known as other tragedies in American history makes black history more fully integrated in the national tale. The mythology behind our national culture. Which makes black people feel more invested in the nation.
Or something along those lines. It’s not as simple as just making sure we retell something.
